The list of teams needing a wide receiver, or at least have the position at the top of their needs list, within the top 15 picks is low. Then, you look at the bottom-half of the first-round only to realize there is a flurry of teams that will consider drafting a wide receiver.

Laquon Treadwell of Mississippi is the standout wide receiver of the 2016 draft class and is considered to be the only top-tier talent. Although this is not to discredit the other receivers in this draft, rather to illuminate the potential of Treadwell that the others don’t have.

However, despite a shaky Pro Day with a low 40-yard dash time, (4.63 seconds), Treadwell’s speed has recently been questioned, putting him further into the mix with the rest of the receivers in this class.

Michael Thomas (Ohio State), Will Fuller (Notre Dame), Corey Coleman (Baylor), Sterling Shepard (Alabama) and Braxton Miller (Ohio State) are all slotted to be drafted between rounds 1-3. All talented in their own ways, Doctson is more than likely the only prospect to translate into a true NFL No. 1 receiver, not including Treadwell.

The Cincinnati Bengals posses the No. 24 pick and are one of the teams looking to select a wide receiver early in the draft amid losing Marvin Jones and Muhammad Sanu via free agency and Doctson could be a target. Also expected to be interested in wide receivers are the Los Angeles Rams (No. 15), Houston Texans (No. 22), Minnesota Vikings (No. 23) and the Kansas City Chiefs (No. 28).
