The one trait the Browns focused on this off-season during free agency and the draft was adding players to the roster that live, eat and drink football and that truly love the game.

“I’m looking for high-character guys,” Jackson said at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. “We’re also looking for some people that are tough, guys that have passion for the game of football because we all know it’s a very tough game.”

The 14 players selected in the draft were ones that have succeeded at the college level, faced/overcame a less than ideal situation along the way and most importantly loves to play the game. Among the draft picks are:

  • Corey Coleman, the Biletnikoff Award winner as the nation’s best wide receiver
  • Emmanuel Ogbah, the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year
  • Carl Nassib, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year
  • Joe Schobert, the Big Ten Linebacker of the Year

In free agency, the team did the same by signing high-character, hungry, young guys coming off their rookie contracts. The Browns have gone younger in an effort to change the culture and rid themselves of players who were only here to cash a check.
