Cleveland Browns: Top 10 rushing games of all time (Part 2)
By Thomas Moore
The Cleveland Browns hosted the defending NFL champion Philadelphia Eagles for a key November matchup late in the 1961 season and Jim Brown posted a performance to remember.
Brown rushed for 237 yards against the Eagles, matching his career best, while also scoring four times on runs of 34, three, one and eight yards as the Browns stayed in the hunt for a division title with a 45-24 victory. He was supported by Bobby Mitchell, who added 198 yards of total offense, including a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Brown would go on that season to win the fifth of his eight career rushing titles and make the fourth of his nine Pro Bowl appearances. In rushing for 1,408 yards on the season, Brown averaged 100.6 rushing yards per game, one of seven times he would do that in his nine-year career.
