Following the merciful conclusion of the 2015 season, all the talk surrounding the Browns was on whether they would take Jared Goff or Carson Wentz with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Tennessee Titans held the No. 1 overall pick and were not expected to take a quarterback, so the Browns had to make a decision.

Then the Los Angeles Rams traded up to that top spot, with Goff as a top choice. This gave the Browns a choice to draft Wentz, another player or trade down to acquire more picks.

The Browns made a smart choice and traded with the Philadelphia Eagles for more picks, while also swapping the No. 2 pick for the No. 8 pick.

This allowed the Eagles to take Wentz, while giving the Browns more picks to help with the rebuild of the team.

The Browns then traded down again to the No. 15 spot where Corey Coleman was selected.

These trades allowed the Browns to end up with a total of 14 players selected in the draft. 10 of those players have already been signed, showing that the front office was careful in who was selected in an attempt to lay the foundation for this team heading into the future.

Another decision also helped with laying a solid foundation.
