Taking a look at all 24 Cleveland Browns starting quarterbacks since the team returned in 1999.

It is official: Robert Griffin III is the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in 2016, the 25th quarterback who will start a game for the Cleveland Browns since the team was brought back home in 1999. While it is unknown what the future will bring with Griffin taking the snaps, most will agree that those who have gone before the 26-year-old at the position have been less than impressive.

Many are still skeptical of what the former Washington Redskin can bring to a Browns offense that has struggled seemingly forever. But what may assure them that signing Griffin and naming him the starter was the right move is a look back at the previous twenty-four quarterbacks who started before him.

Although the common denominator with each of these starters is that none ended up becoming the desired franchise quarterback, each had his ups and downs and, in some cases, many more downs. Throughout the past 273 games and 17 seasons, 24 quarterbacks have started games for the Browns. On average, each quarterback started just over 11 games, not even a complete season.

As head coach Hue Jackson leads the fresh feeling of optimism surrounding Berea, it is an ideal moment to reflect upon the struggles Cleveland quarterbacks have endured for the last 17 years. Ranked from 24th on up, here are the top Cleveland Browns quarterbacks since 1999.
