Thaddeus Lewis, 2012

One of three starting quarterbacks in Cleveland Browns history who only managed to start one game was Thaddeus Lewis. Lewis spent 2011 as a backup with Cleveland, before being released during the 2012 season.

However, his journey to becoming a starting NFL quarterback was only just beginning. Two days after he was waived, Lewis was signed to Cleveland’s practice squad, for what was expected to be the remainder of the 2012 season.

However, Lewis unexpectedly rose to the active roster when both Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy were injured. He started a Week 17 game in Pittsburgh, finally getting the opportunity he always coveted.

In his lone start, Lewis made the most of what was given to him, completing 22 of 32 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown. The Browns lost the meaningless game 24-10, and the Week 17 third-string-starter tradition began.

Despite his decent performance in his lone start, Lewis was released the following offseason and never appeared in another game for the team.
