Running back Isaiah Crowell is off to a fantastic start to the season. The third year running back is second in the league in rushing yards with 394 only behind Cowboys sensation Ezekiel Elliott. In Hue Jackson’s run scheme, Crowell has been able to flourish averaging 6.5 yards a carry. Crowell looks like a different back this year, showing better burst and vision running the football.

On this play, Hue Jackson uses his creativeness to line up in an empty formation and shift into I-formation. The mass formation shifts are designed to keep the defense guessing and to make them quickly adjust to the new offensive formation. On this Crowell run, he shows great patience  as the hole takes time to develop.

Crowell shows improved vision to hit the hole, and he hits the hole with burst. Last year, Crowell did not exhibit this burst and could often miss open holes. This version of Crowell has vastly improved the Browns running game and has made him an instant threat with the ball in his hand on run plays.
