Quarterback DeShone Kizer looked cool and collected in his first NFL start despite the fact he’s only 21 years old. Unlike Cody Kessler in 2016, Kizer isn’t afraid to take a shot downfield and can create with his feet. His lone interception was a costly one on an under-thrown ball which should’ve resulted in a large chunk of yards.

The point being Kizer will make mistakes as a rookie quarterback in the NFL with limited weapons. The offensive line needs time to build chemistry and the receivers have undefined roles to this point. There is a fair amount of uncertainty on offense and rightfully so. That being said, the offense needs as many opportunities on the field as possible to create a rapport and the defense has to make that happen.

They were good enough to keep them in the game against the Steelers on Sunday, but consistency is key in the NFL. Williams has generated a buzz with this Browns defense and they have several playmakers that can be the difference in ball games. The likes of Jabrill Peppers and Garrett will create mayhem for opposing offenses, and after a few games the Browns have a chance to become one of the fiercest defenses in the National Football League.

This defense has the makeup to be great and the foundation is set. Garrett is expected to return in three-to-five weeks and this defense only becomes that much more loaded once he is back on the field.

It’s an exciting time to be a Cleveland Browns fan as they are building off of a strong defensive identity.
