1. Hayden Hurst, South Carolina

South Carolina’s Hayden Hurst has come out of just about nowhere to take the top tight end spot in this class, both for the next level, and fit for the Browns. Coming in at 6-foot-5, weighing 250 pounds, and projected to run a 4.65 40-yard dash, he could be a game-breaker and matchup nightmare.

Unlike Mark Andrews, Hurst did not rack up incredible numbers during his career. In 2017, he had 44 catches for 559 yards and two touchdowns. However, he did not have tremendous opportunities with a superstar quarterback like Andrews did with Mayfield.

However, Hurst has all the physical tools in the world. Explosive quickness, great catching ability, and has shown polish as a prospect. He is well-rounded in his skillset, showing both blocking and receiving prowess.

Mentally, Hurst has it all. He has a good head on his shoulder, he “gets it,” and NFL.com said it best when they said that he:

"“plays like every down could be his last.”"

So, what has held Hurst down in his football efforts? The simple fact that as a rookie, he will be 25 years old.

Hurst comes from a baseball background (specifically with the Pittsburgh Pirates) but flamed out in the minor leagues. He moved on to football, and has shined with the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Should the Browns bring him in with an early second-round pick, he should immediately become a leader in the locker room. And that, truly, is exactly what Cleveland needs for their team and their locker room.
