Round 1, No. 4 Overall: Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming

There’s a couple truths about Tyrod Taylor that Browns fans should know. One, he’s not as bad a quarterback as the Buffalo Bills wanted him to be. They seemed to be in a hurry to bench him, but that was nearly their downfall in 2017. He’s a solid game manager that protects the football and can move the chains with his arm and his legs.

The second truth is that he’s not the long-term answer for the Browns. What Taylor can be is a guy to lean on until a starter is ready. Here we predict the Browns go for that starter here and their selection is Josh Allen out of Wyoming.

The choice comes down to preference of the staff, who believes that Allen has the best arm in the class, but needs a lot of work on his accuracy. Getting Taylor buys them the time to get Allen ready.

Allen is an impressive 6-foot-5 and 237-pounds and reports are he can throw a football 90-yards down the field.

He’s also pretty mobile for someone so big and could be similar to someone like Ben Roethlisberger, who offensive coordinator Todd Haley had plenty of success with while they were with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It’s not the pick everyone expected, but Allen moved up boards with a solid Scouting Combine and Cleveland paid plenty of attention.
