Cleveland Browns: Top 10 moves to right the ship over the past three years

1. Drafting Baker Mayfield
The No. 1 move the Cleveland Browns have made to rebuild this team over the past three seasons may also be the most controversial. In the 2018 NFL Draft they used the first selection on Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield. Those who believed in Mayfield rejoiced and those who had their doubts let it be heard.
Doubts about Mayfield were rampant too. He was considered too short for the position and there were questions about his character. Mayfield would push the limits on the field with his taunting of opponents and he was once busted for public intoxication. Those who didn’t want him likened him to another former Cleveland quarterback, Johnny Manziel.
That’s not a fair comparison though as Mayfield’s only similarity to Manziel is the height. Unlike ‘Johnny Football,’ this rookie quarterback simply wants to win. He draws teammates in with his charisma and then wins them over with his competitive spirit and abilities as a signal caller.
Cleveland won’t be rushing him into action as they seem content to start Tyrod Taylor and let the rookie learn the ropes before throwing him to the fire. That means we won’t know for sure for quite some time if he will succeed, but he gives them their best chance at a franchise quarterback in years.

The Browns had skipped on acquiring such a player for too long. It worked out though as they now have a guy who could provide a new, and better attitude and he’s going to be central to their rebuild which is hopefully now complete as this is the best roster they’ve had in years.
