1. Shon Coleman, Left Tackle

The No. 1 player that the Cleveland Browns season is riding on isn’t one of the bigger names. It doesn’t mean his position isn’t important. Shon Coleman looks to be sliding over from right tackle to left and he has some huge shoes to try and fill.

The Browns No. 3 overall pick in 2007 started every game until an injury in October sent him to the sidelines. Thomas then hung it up following the season and a giant hole was left at the blind side.

Many thought Cleveland could go for a player in the draft to fill that hole, but they instead went quarterback and corner in the first. Then in the second they landed a guard and running back. The only additions who are expected to play tackle are now Chris Hubbard — who should start on the right side — Greg Robinson and undrafted rookie Damon Harrison.

Obviously, this group hasn’t instilled a ton of confidence as there’s been talk of moving left guard Joel Bitonio to tackle. The problem there is you take a great guard and weaken his spot while still being unsure how good he will be on the edge.

Having said all that, Coleman is a huge piece to the puzzle this season and their success is dependent on him taking over for Thomas and being able to keep the quarterback standing upright.

Many teams have seen their season fall apart without a blindside protector. Cleveland’s hopes are riding on Coleman more than anyone else because of the importance of where he plays.
