Death to the jersey. Yes, we all know about the stupid jersey. The one that had all the failures of the team’s past on the back — also known as the many quarterbacks who have failed this faithful franchise since returning to the Land in 1999. This game showed that the Browns finally have someone who can operate under center and keep them competitive.

Tyrod Taylor helped the Buffalo Bills exercise some of their own demons last year. The Western New York franchise hadn’t been to the playoffs since that same 1999 season during which the Browns came back to the league, and Tyrod ended that futility.

As fate would have it, the Bills then sent him to the team with the new longest playoff drought and he would love to make history in back-to-back seasons.

If Thursday night was any indication, he could make that a possibility. Taylor started the night off with a pass into coverage where he allowed Jarvis Landry to show off his catch radius. He then later found David Njoku for his first ever touchdown for Cleveland.

In the end, Taylor finished with 99 yards on 5-of-5 passing, capped off by the 36-yarder to Njoku. While the questions about No. 1 pick Baker Mayfield won’t die down yet, Taylor was still impressive enough to prove why the team has faith in him.
