Cleveland Browns: 5 pleasant surprises heading into Preseason Week 2

There were some big names being mentioned this offseason when discussing the Cleveland Browns secondary. They added safety Damarious Randall, which gives them a true free safety finally. They also gave big money to cornerback T.J. Carrie and also brought in E.J. Gaines, who rejoins former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.
Easily the biggest name of the group though is No. 4 overall pick Denzel Ward, who came out of Ohio State and looks to be a star in the making. Those names give Cleveland plenty of reason to believe their secondary this reason, but another name continues to get lost in the mix.
Terrance Mitchell was a former seventh-round pick out of Oregon who has made the rounds in the NFL. Cleveland is his fifth team since joining the league in 2014 and after signing a three-year deal, he could be sticking around for a while.
That’s great news considering he’s been turning heads and was moved to first-team after a strong first week of camp according to Patrick Maks of the team’s official website.
Mitchell is a physical corner who broke out with four interceptions last season with the Kansas City Chiefs. He’s able to play tight man coverage and could prove to be a great find for the Browns, even if he doesn’t stand out as a splashy move like many of the others.
