Player on offense I would like to see more from: Carlos Hyde

A lot was made of how bad the night from rookie Nick Chubb was, and with good reason. Chubb struggled to get anything going and had 11 yards on 15 carries. He wasn’t the only back to struggle as the team itself had less than a two-yards-per attempt average on the night. The one player who should be able to fix that is Carlos Hyde — who has the most rushing yards of anyone on this team.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

On Thursday night, the Browns gave their free-agent pickup from San Francisco just one carry and he went for a loss of one yard on that rush and that was it for him on the night. Hyde is an all-around back and the team paid him good money, which is probably why they hardly let him play in Preseason Week 1. Hopefully this week, we will see more.

Player on defense I would like to see more from: Caleb Brantley

There probably isn’t a defensive tackle I felt could break through more than Caleb Brantley this season. While Larry Ogunjobi was the better rookie, Brantley had a higher ceiling coming into the draft and was supposed to go higher had it not been for off-field concerns. With all that behind him and the team needing players inside to play at a higher level, Brantley has a huge opportunity in front of him. On Thursday, you could hardly tell he was on the field.

He did have some injury concerns leading up to the game, so maybe he wasn’t 100 percent healthy. Whatever the case is, I would love to see him step it up just another notch.
