Dud: Defensive line depth

It was an issue last week, and it became an issue again this week. The Browns started the game strong and had their way with the Bills first-team offense. There was a sack on starting quarterback A.J. McCarron from defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi as well as a monster hit from defensive end Myles Garrett.

News then broke later that McCarron actually suffered a hairline fracture in his collarbone — as reported by Bills reporter Vic Carucci.

After that, however, things went bad. Their defensive line lacks depth right now, and while a lot of that can be attributed to the absence of defensive tackles Caleb Brantley and Trevon Coley, it’s still concerning.

Zaycoven Henderson missed a couple tackles and Nate Orchard still seems like the odd man out in the defensive end rotation. The good news, of course, is that none of these guys who are struggling now are expected to be logging major snaps when the season starts. The bad news is, we’re an injury or two from that being the case.

The team still seems to be fine with it though. They had a chance to add Jonathan Hankins this week, but after visiting with the nose tackle, they let him leave without a deal.
