Stud: Nick Chubb, Running Back

Carlos Hyde wasn’t the only running back to step up in the Browns second game. We already went in depth on how well he played and briefly mentioned Duke Johnson. The speedy back had 27 yards on just four rushes — and it could have been more had he not slipped on the turf.

Then when those two went to the sidelines, rookie Nick Chub stepped in and kept things rolling. For Chubb, it had to feel amazing as his first rush was good for 14 yards, which topped his prior week.

In his debut with the Browns, Chubb ended up with 11 yards on 15 carries. While the offensive line did him no favors, he wasn’t running with the purpose he showed on Thursday Night.

Chubb had 53 yards on 11 carries and his first touchdown with the Browns. He was chosen No. 35 overall and looked much more worthy of that selection in this game. He won’t be pushing Hyde too much for playing time after the way he played in this one, but it does show why so many people are excited about the future he brings.
