4. The quarterback position.

For the first time perhaps since they returned in 1999, Cleveland Browns fans have legitimate reason to be excited for the present, and the future, of this all-important position. Since his arrival in Cleveland via a trade with Buffalo, Tyrod Taylor has demonstrated commitment and leadership as he worked to develop chemistry with his receivers in the offseason.

That effort seems to be paying off as the season draws closer. And first-overall pick Baker Mayfield appears to be as good or better than advertised depending on your point of view. Whether his first start is this season or not, Browns fans have reason to be excited for 2018 and beyond.

3. A new offense and offensive coordinator.

During the 2016 and 2017 season, the Browns offense continued to be among the league’s worst. Coach Hue Jackson seemed to be overwhelmed with the combined task of calling plays and handling the big picture in-game decisions a coach needs to make.

Signing former Steelers offensive coordinator in the offseason was encouraging. Haley has been a coordinator for the Steelers and Arizona Cardinals, as well as being the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. At every spot, he has shown an ability to make sure the ball is distributed. That will be important as the Browns may finally have a lot of mouths to feed.
