After years of disappointment and “it’s always somethings,” the Cleveland Browns have finally rid themselves of wide receiver Josh Gordon. On Monday afternoon, the Dawg Pound traded the troubled receiver to the New England Patriots.

When Josh Gordon is on the field, he is one of the NFL’s top-flight receivers. Able to take over a game practically by himself, Gordon is a freak of nature, and should be a top option for any team in the league. The only problem is, he’s never on the field.

Gordon has played 11 games since 2013, and has only recorded 43 receptions and two touchdowns in that time. After a litany of suspensions, failed drug tests, and simply being a burden, the Cleveland Browns have finally decided they are done with Josh Gordon.

News broke Monday that the Browns would officially be trading Gordon to the AFC North. More specifically, they will be trading him to the New England Patriots, in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick.

Whatever the next chapter of Gordon’s career is, it will take place in New England. Gordon is going to perhaps the best, and certainly the most buttoned-up organization in the NFL, and will be pairing up with legendary coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady.

Whether or not he is able to survive in this climate will be interesting, but one thing is for certain. When the Cleveland Browns have finally decided they are done with you, and no longer require your services, you might be in big trouble.

Best of luck to Josh Gordon, as the 26-year old receiver sets off on the next part of his NFL career.
