Tight End Seth DeValve

Seth DeValve showed the ability to make some plays as a receiving tight end in his first two seasons with the Browns. He caught 43 passes for 522 yards and three touchdowns prior to this season.

But in 2018, DeValve’s presence has been non-existent, and he is currently the team’s fourth-string tight end. He has played in only four games, and has caught only one pass for 26 yards. According to Pro Football Reference, he has played only three percent of Cleveland’s offensive snaps.

More from Browns News

Tight end play across the NFL is down this season. Not many teams are getting production from their tight ends, and most of the league could be looking for upgrades. Other teams may see more ability from DeValve than the Browns currently do.

Buried behind David Njoku and Darren Fells, there does not seem to be much playing time available for DeValve. He is not as good of a receiver as Njoku, and he does not provide the same type of blocking ability as Fells. It also does not help that the Browns added Pharaoh Brown from the practice squad, adding another tight end to the situation.

As a young tight end that has shown the ability to be a solid receiver, teams across the NFL may be willing to take a chance on DeValve. With how little DeValve has played this season and the variety of options the Browns have at this position, it would be smart for the organization to trade DeValve and get an asset or two in return for the young tight end.
