Stud: Antonio Callaway, Wide Receiver

This weekend wasn’t fun for wide receiver Antonio Callaway. The rookie pass catcher again had his name in the news for something that happened off the field. News came out on Saturday that before their game against the Chargers in Week 7, Callaway was cited for going 58 in a 35 mile per hour zone. While that normally is nothing that even raises an eyebrow, it’s different with Callaway.

That’s because he entered the league with red flags for failing a drug test at the NFL Scouting Combine. He also was suspended for all of 2017 at Florida as he was accused of sexual assault, credit card fraud, and failed tests throughout his tenure. Then during training camp, the young man was cited for driving on a suspended license while also having marijuana and gun parts in his vehicle.

Again, the speeding wasn’t a huge issue, but it surely wasn’t fun for Callaway to see his name on TMZ again. To his credit, he put it behind him and was one of the few bright spots on the Browns’ offense this weekend.

His most impressive play came on a one-yard touchdown that pulled Cleveland within four points in the third quarter. On that play, Baker Mayfield lobbed it into the end zone and Callaway got under the soft pass and pulled in an impressive catch. What made it such a great play was the fact that Callaway was being blatantly held by Coty Sensabaugh. A missed extra point followed, but AC did his part in this tough to watch game.
