3. Matt LaFleur, Offensive Coordinator, Tennessee Titans

This one would be all about Baker Mayfield. Matt LaFleur is a respected offensive mind who has been behind some of the better seasons for some well-known quarterbacks. He was on the Washington Redskins staff as a quarterbacks coach in 2012 when Robert Griffin III lit up the NFL. LaFleur was also the quarterback coach for Notre Dame in 2014, which was when Everson Griffen looked like a star in the making.

How about in 2016 when Matt Ryan went from a good quarterback to the MVP of the entire league?  Or in 2017 when Jared Goff went from a bust to a sta? Yep, LaFleur was on those staffs once again.

While he doesn’t get all the credit for those players being successful, his long run of being there when someone has the light bulb come on is no coincidence. LaFleur is a bright young mind in the NFL and has worked with some of the best in the business. He’s been on the same staff as Kyle Shanahan and Sean Mcvay and could bring some creative ideas to the Browns sidelines.

There’s no doubt this hire would help Baker Mayfield succeed, but it’s still true that LaFleur is very young (38-years old) and would be rather inexperienced. He’s only been a coordinator for two seasons as he held the title last season with the Rams and this season with the Titans. Still, he’s an interesting name to keep an eye on as the Browns look for their new leader.
