Completion Percentage

"1. Baker Mayfield 60% 2. Josh Rosen 55.6% 3. Sam Darnold 55% 4. Josh Allen 54%"

In this statistic, the rookie quarterbacks are all decently close with each other. Mayfield is farther from the pack, which in this case is a good thing. He is completing 4.4 percent more of his passes than the next rookie quarterback, which is a sign of his great accuracy.

This statistic is even more surprising when you consider how many passes Mayfield’s receivers have dropped. 11 players in the NFL have more than five drops, and three of them are on the Browns (Jarvis Landry, David Njoku, and Antonio Callaway). The other three rookie quarterbacks have no one on that list.

As Mayfield develops, so should the team around him. When the Browns receivers finally get rid of their case of the dropsies, Mayfield could become one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the league.

Total Passing Touchdowns

"1. Sam Darnold 11 TD’s 2. Baker Mayfield 10 TD’s 3. Josh Rosen 5 TD’s 4. Josh Allen 2 TD’s"

It’s not surprising that Darnold leads this category, as he has played three more games than Mayfield and four more games than both Rosen and Allen. However, what is surprising, is that Baker is only one behind him.

This speaks to the amount of passes Mayfield is throwing and his overall accuracy compared to Darnold. To score touchdowns, you have to be able to complete the pass to your receiver and Mayfield’s completion percentage is significantly higher than Darnold’s.

The most surprising thing here is that Rosen and Allen were able to have the highest winning percentage and throw five and two touchdowns respectively.

In today’s NFL it is hard to win without scoring, and the two rookie quarterbacks who are scoring the least have the best records. That right there is a head-scratcher. You could possibly chalk that one up to the talent on their defenses and the lack of talent of the teams they have played.
