Stud: Nick Chubb

Heading into Sunday, the Cleveland Browns offense had to of been licking their lips as they looked at the Falcons defense. The Atlanta unit has been decimated by injuries this season. That has shown, as they have been one of the worst defenses in the league.

More from Browns News

Browns running back Nick Chubb was able to take advantage of that, as he was able to rip off chunk play after chunk play on the Falcons defense. It was one of the best performances that a Browns player has had in some time.

Chubb finished the day with 176 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. He also added 33 receiving yards and a touchdown on three receptions.

Chubb’s rushing touchdown broke the franchise record for longest rush, as Chubb carried the ball 92 yards for the touchdown. The Browns offensive line did a phenomenal job of creating a running lane off the right edge, and then Chubb was able to show off his breakaway speed.

Chubb’s explosiveness and patience as a runner stands out. He does not run into the backs of his offensive linemen and go for only a couple yard gains. Instead, he lets his linemen work and create a lane for him to run through. When the lane opens up, Chubb’s sudden burst creates issues for defenders trying to bring him down.

As he becomes more comfortable as the team’s workhorse, Chubb continues to get better. He is showing the promise of being one of the best running backs in the NFL already.
