Another coach that has ties to Northeast Ohio, Matt Campbell might be the most surprising name that has been reported as a candidate to be the next Browns head coach. In fact, those that are reportedly close to Dorsey think Campbell is a strong candidate.

More from Browns News

Campbell has never coached at a powerhouse college program, as he has only been a head coach at Toledo and Iowa State. Since his time at those two programs, never has he led one of his teams to a big bowl game at the end of the season.

But what is so appealing about Campbell is what he can do with the talent that he has. At both Toledo and Iowa State, Campbell is leading mostly two and three star players to being competitive teams. Over the past three seasons at Iowa State, Campbell has helped lead his teams to victory over multiple ranked opponents despite a massive talent difference.

The way that players gravitate towards Campbell and his energy is attractive for NFL decision makers. One of the best attributes a coach can have is getting the best out of his players, and that is exactly what Campbell does. The only question would be if NFL players would gravitate towards him like college athletes do?

If Campbell proves he can build a solid coaching staff around him, he very well could be the favorite to be the next head coach of the Browns.
