Condoleezza Rice – Former U.S. Secretary of State

November 18th – Adam Schefter: Browns want to interview Condoleezza Rice for head-coaching job

Apparently John Dorsey was not lying when he said he wanted the best possible head coach for the Browns, and that it could be a woman. Just days later, news surfaced that the organization wanted to interview former politician Condoleezza Rice as part of the coaching search.

Rice is known as one of the biggest and most famous Browns fans. She has been seen wearing Browns gear countless times. Earlier in the season, she was seen on the field with the Haslam’s prior to a game.

If the Browns were to follow through with the interview, Rice would become the first woman to interview for a NFL head coaching job. Rice is known to be a big football fan and is quite knowledgeable. In 2013, Rice was selected as a member of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee. She was a member until her term on the committee ended following the 2016 season.

Despite her football knowledge, this seems like more of a PR move than anything. Rice has never coached a football team at a high level, which would make it nearly impossible for her to succeed as a NFL head coach.

If Rice were to become involved in the NFL, it would not be surprising to see her attempt to become the commissioner of the league. But there is no reason to believe that she will be in contention the become the Browns head coach, even if the organization does bring her in for an interview.
