Stud: Baker Mayfield in second half

When the Browns came out for the second half, Mayfield started to play like a much different quarterback. Browns offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens was able to make the right adjustments, and it put the Browns offense in a better position.

Mayfield looked much more comfortable in the second half, as he completed 24 of his 30 pass attempts for 353 yards and a touchdown. He was still aggressive throwing the ball in the second half, and the gunslinger mentality helped move the Browns down the field on multiple occasions.

But by the time the second half rolled around, the Browns had dug themselves into too big of a hole in the first half and made it nearly impossible for them to come back in the second half.

Mayfield did put the Browns in a position to make it a closer game in the second half, as he completed what would have been a 76-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Callaway. However a holding penalty negated the touchdown. Mayfield would then hit Callaway again two plays later, but the wide receiver fumbled at the goal-line.

Despite the miserable first half for Mayfield, he showed the resiliency in the second half and gave the Browns a chance. If it weren’t for the throws that Mayfield was making in the second half, the outcome would have looked much different for the Browns.
