Round 3: Yodny Cajuste, OT, West Virginia

After passing on an offensive lineman the first two rounds, the Browns decide it’s time to address the spot here. It’s not a household name, but Cleveland gets themselves a player with some upside in Yodny Cajuste out of West Virginia.

While they wouldn’t be faulted for going for a tackle earlier, they do land a potential starter — and it won’t be the end of the world if Cajuste can’t start right away. The Browns have the option of kicking Joel Bitonio out to tackle if 2018 second-round pick Austin Corbett improves enough as a guard.

There’s also hope that Desmond Harrison can make strides this offseason. On top of this, Greg Robinson has shown that he can at least be a serviceable option.

Of course, it may be more ideal for Harrison to fight with Robinson for the starting right tackle job, which would mean they cut their losses with Chris Hubbard, who hasn’t lived up to expectations. Whatever they decide, the point is they have options. Adding another guy with starting potential here gives them more.

Round 3, Pick 2 (via New England): Isaiah Buggs, DT, Alabama

Another position that can use some extra beef is the defensive tackle spot. After trading away Danny Shelton ahead of the 2018 season, the Browns use the pick acquired for him on another big man here in Isaiah Buggs from Alabama.

At 6-foot-5 and 286-pounds, Buggs is a solid fit at the three-technique and has shown an ability to get after the quarterback. He’s racked up 9.5 sacks this season, but with stars like Raekwon Davis and Quinn Williams around him, Buggs gets overlooked and lasts long enough for the Browns to get a steal.
