Stud: Jarvis Landry, Wide Receiver

The Browns had the tone to the game set by Brashad Perriman when he caught a 66-yard pass on the first throw of the game. He deserves to be mentioned in this piece as he continues to prove he was a smart signing by this front office.

Another signing that hasn’t been all positive was the extension given to Jarvis Landry. While no one can argue he’s their best receiver, the former Miami Dolphins star was given elite money — and hasn’t been as big a factor as he would have liked. On Sunday, he showed the skill that made Cleveland believe in him.

He capped off the drive Perriman and Mayfield started with a three-yard run, which was impressive. Then he had another play which was simply unbelievable. Landry was hit deep for a 51-yard touchdown and hauled the pass in despite tight coverage — and a hit that came as soon as the ball hit his chest. He also added a huge run (also of 51-yards) that set up Nick Chubb’s go-ahead touchdown.

Landry threw a pass as well, which should have been complete, but running back Nick Chubb was unable to haul it in. Had that been completed, this would have been an even more memorable game for Landry.

He did have one gaffe in this one as he fumbled the ball away early in the third quarter. Fortunately for Cleveland, the defense held and got them the ball back immediately.
