Dud: T.J. Carrie, Cornerback

As far as the stat lines are considered, cornerback T.J. Carrie actually had a good day. He finished with four tackles and two pass defenses. However, stats don’t always tell the whole story. Carrie was a liability in this one as he found himself struggling to stick with his man all day long.

He was beaten more than once, with D.J. Moore being the culprit on a couple of occasions, including one time where he beat him in the end zone which Moore couldn’t come down with. Carrie found himself bailed out thanks to Carolina quarterback Cam Newton struggling with his accuracy — which very well could have been due to a lingering shoulder injury.

Carrie also cost himself a big play in the third quarter. He was in coverage on Moore once again and came up with an interception. This could have been a game-changing play as it was tied at 17-17 at this time. It ended up not counting though as Carrie was called for a holding penalty earlier on the route.

Carolina kept possession and the drive ended after Chandler Catanzaro hit a 34-yard field goal. Thankfully for the Browns, this was the last time the Panthers put any points on the board. The defense as a whole had their share of wins and losses in this one as they got the win. But for Carrie, this wasn’t his best day.
