Round 4: Blace Brown, CB, Troy
Denzel Ward and Terrance Mitchell are good starters for the Browns and they have some depth with T.J. Carrie. However, they could use more depth and someone to push Carrie — and maybe Mitchell for snaps. It’s not a dire need, but they do have to get some youth in at the cornerback spot. Here they land another potential steal as they snatch up Blace Brown out of Troy.
Brown played in the Sun Belt Conference so he doesn’t get the respect he deserves, but he’s a baller. Listed at 6-foot and 185-pounds, he has the length to match up with any corner. He’s also a ball hawk, evidenced by his 12 picks in the past three seasons.
Round 5 (via Jacksonville): Daniel Wise, DT, Kansas
The Browns sent Carlos Hyde to Jacksonville so that it would force the original coaching staff to use Nick Chubb. That helped their offense tremendously and it now helps their defense as they use the pick gained on Daniel Wise from Kansas.
Like Gerald Willis earlier, Wise falls because of the talent in this draft. For the Browns, adding two defensive tackles with youth and upside could go a long ways towards improving their defense in 2019.
