2. Dorsey’s drafting ability

We all saw how good John Dorsey did in the 2018 NFL Draft. That was really unsurprising when you look at his body of work which includes drafting Patrick Mahomes while with the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes was intriguing, but many felt he wouldn’t fit as he played in a non-traditional system at Texas Tech.

Dorsey believed in him and made a huge move up in the draft to secure him as the Chiefs starting quarterback of the future. All Mahomes has done since then is throw for more than 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in his first season as a starter. He’s also got his team in the AFC title game — so yes, Dorsey knew what he was doing there.

In 2018, he was back at it again as he took Baker Mayfield first overall. The Oklahoma product was a lightning rod for debate as he had doubters who said he was too small and had maturity concerns. Dorsey ignored all that and looked at his competitive fire and deadly accuracy. Because of that, he took Mayfield, who broke the record for most touchdown passes by a rookie despite only starting 13 games.

The Cleveland general manager also hit a home run with the No. 4 pick which he used on Denzel Ward and the No. 35 which landed them Nich Chubb. With all that being said, there’s plenty of reason to believe the GM will do everything he can to round out this already improving roster with another fantastic draft.
