Cleveland Browns: 15 greatest moments in team history
By Randy Gurzi
Looking back over the storied history of the Cleveland Browns, we sift through the good and bad times to find the 15 greatest moments all-time
Originally established as a member of the All-America Football Conference in 1946, the Cleveland Browns have one of the longest, and proudest histories in football. This fact was proven when Art Modell took the team away from the people of Cleveland and relocated to Baltimore. While he started the Ravens franchise then, the Browns nickname — and team history — stayed where it belonged.
Then in 1999, the NFL did the right thing by bringing the franchise back. There’s been a lot of turmoil since that return as the team has struggled to find their footing. Now, it feels like a lot of the problems are in the past thanks to new general manager John Dorsey.
Formerly a member of the Green Bay Packers and then the Kansas City Chiefs front office, Dorsey has done something no one has been able to do in years — he got owner Jimmy Haslam to step back and let the football guy run things.
The results have spoken for themselves as quarterback Baker Mayfield has become a legitimate star and the team won seven times as many games in 2018 as they did in 2016 and 2017 combined.
While Mayfield and new head coach Freddie Kitchens are set to usher in a new era of football, we are about to take this time to reflect on the past. Here are the 15 greatest moments in the long history of the Cleveland Browns football team.
