David Edwards, Wisconsin

At the start of the 2018 season, David Edwards was my No. 1 overall tackle. He showed great skill in both pass protection and run blocking, he had a vote of confidence from former Badger and future Hall of Famer, Joe Thomas, and was considered a lock for the first round.

After a left shoulder injury, which he suffered last fall and he played through, his performance on the field dipped slightly. He was still solid, being a second-team All-Big Ten selection, but he did have noticeably less power.

More from Browns Draft

He’ll still test well, being a former high school quarterback and a tight end his freshman season. But being athletic will only get a player so far. He’ll need to prove to scouts and GMs that the player he was in 2017 os closer to who he really is as a player.

I still have a first round grade on him, but don’t be surprised if he falls to somewhere in the early to middle second round. Having a Wisconsin Badger at tackle worked out once for Cleveland, it might do well again. If he’s there with the first round pick or even the second round pick, Edwards needs to be considered.

Yodny Cajuste, West Virginia

Yodny Cajuste had a strong 2018 campaign, greatly helping his draft stock. In a conference where offense is king, Cajuste was probably the best overall blocker in the Big 12. Cajuste has some great footwork off the snap that has propelled him up many teams draft boards. He’s shown an ability to pick up speed rushers off the edge and has great strength in the run game.

Despite showing limited flexibility, he’s a tough, mauler with an “I don’t give a damn” attitude (see his ejection vs. Texas) that you want from someone on the front lines. At this point, he’s likely a day two prospect but we’ll have to wait and see how he does after the combine to be sure.
