Chicago Bears – Cornerback Bryce Callahan

The Chicago Bears defense was one of the dominating units in all of football in 2018. Opposing offenses struggled to accomplish much against the Bears defense, led by a secondary that was keen on creating turnovers.

More from Browns News

A key part of the Bears secondary was cornerback Bryce Callahan, who had a career year in 2018. At 5-foot-9 and 188 pounds, Callahan is best suited to play in the slot, where he proved to be one of the best cornerbacks in that role last season.

Callahan played in 13 games in 2018, 10 of which he started, and made 45 total tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, and six passes defended. Callahan also intercepted two passes the season prior.

The Bears were able to use Callahan in a variety of ways out of the slot, as evidenced by his two sacks and six tackles for loss. He is able to blitz off the edge and create havoc in the backfield for quarterbacks and running backs.

The Browns defense was one of the worst in allowing yardage last season, but bailed themselves out by creating turnovers. If the Browns were to sign Callahan, he would slide right into the slot cornerback role between Denzel Ward and Terrance Mitchell.

All three players are not afraid to come up and make a tackle, but are also physical enough on routes to create problems for wide receivers. If the Browns want to improve their pass defense, then they have a chance to add one of the best cornerbacks in football last season.
