Jacksonville Jaguars – Wide Receiver Donte Moncrief

The Cleveland Browns received good production from their 2018 wide receiver corps. Although they did not have a true No. 1 receiver, several wide receivers emerged as reliable targets.

However, the one thing that the Browns current group of receivers lack is a viable downfield threat. Antonio Callaway showed that potential during the second half of the season, but he is still an unproven young receiver.

If the Browns want a receiver that has shown the capabilities of making plays downfield, they should consider Donte Moncrief. In 2018, Moncrief caught 48 receptions for 668 yards and three touchdowns.

Moncrief has yet to emerge as a consistent threat in the NFL. But he has the athleticism necessary to become that threat. The 25-year-old would also thrive in a vertical offense that the Browns are likely to deploy in 2019. He has dealt with unfortunate quarterback play during his career, most notably Andrew Luck’s shoulder problems and the inconsistency of Blake Bortles.

With it seeming likely that the Browns may not re-sign Breshad Perriman, they need to consider another veteran receiver. Moncrief should come cheap and the Browns have been able to turn around the careers of receivers that seemed like busts. Perhaps Moncrief is the next player to thrive in a Browns offense led by Baker Mayfield.
