Kansas City Chiefs – Cornerback Steven Nelson

Not only are the Browns expected to focus on the defensive line this off-season, but they may seek upgrades in all three levels of the defense. Adding defensive backs was the focus last off-season, but they should look for another starting cornerback this year.

If Dorsey wants to tap back into his Kansas City days and find another player that he drafted, then cornerback Steven Nelson could be one of his primary targets this off-season. Nelson was drafted in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft when Dorsey was the general manager of the Chiefs.

The 26-year-old had a career year in 2018 and proved to be a play-maker on the Kansas City defense. Nelson started all 16 games, making 68 total tackles, two tackles for loss, four interceptions, and 15 passes defended.

Nelson was one of the most targeted players on the Kansas City defense but was consistently making plays on those targets. His performance dropped later in the season, but he showed how talented of a player he is.

With Dorsey’s familiarity with Nelson, it would make sense if the Browns are one of the teams that go after the cornerback. If the Browns can sign Nelson and pair him with Denzel Ward, the Browns would have two of the best play-makers at cornerback in the league for several years.
