3. Malcom Brown, New England Patriots

This name doesn’t have the buzz around it that many other prospects do but that shouldn’t be the case. Malcom Brown was a first-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2015 out of Texas and was a starter for four seasons for them.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

He was an integral piece for a team that won two Super Bowls during his tenure as he was always exactly where he was supposed to be and doing his job. He was also a big reason why Danny Shelton, the former Browns first-round pick who was dealt to the Pats in 2018, didn’t see the field much last season.

Statistically, Brown’s best season came in 2016 when he had 50 tackles and three sacks. That was also close to his average for the first three seasons of his career. 2018 was a bot of a step backward though as Brown was credited with just 39 tackles and no sacks. His lack of big impact plays may have led to the Patriots letting him test free agency.

That could be a blessing for the Browns as the 25-year old defensive tackle is the exact type of player they need. Currently, they have Myles Garrett, Olivier Vernon, and Larry Ogunjobi on the roster. All three can bring the heat in terms of quarterback pressure, but Brown would give them a 320-pound run-stuffer. He also has some experience with winning which is never a bad thing to add to a locker room.
