Round 3, Pick 32: Kahale Warring, TE, San Diego State

Not long after Olivier Vernon was traded to the Browns, rumors started swirling that backup tight end Darren Fells could be the next player on the move and he was later released after the team couldn’t find a trade partner. That one was a bit surprising considering he played well as a blocker and had some big moments to remember as a pass catcher.

However, the Browns seem like they may prefer more vertical threats in the passing game at the position which is why this mock has them targeting a tight end in the third round. Their choice is Kahale Warring out of San Diego State.

Warring is a projection piece, considering he never had more than 31 receptions at SDSU, but he did show off a lot of athleticism in the combine. His addition is aimed at making the Browns offense more explosive.

Round 4, Pick 17: Justin Layne, CB, Michigan State

Another incoming rookie who came out and said he would like to play for the Browns is Justin Layne out of Michigan State. The Cleveland native gets his wish here as he becomes their selection in Round 4. Layne is a lengthy corner at 6-foot-2 and plays with plenty of physicality against receivers, but does need to help more in the run game.

He has the skill to develop into a legitimate starter in the NFL and could be a steal as a day three pick if the Browns can get him to reach his ceiling.
