2. Morris Claiborne, Cornerback

Much has been made about the cornerback spot opposite Denzel Ward. The No. 4 overall pick in 2018 made the Pro Bowl and proved to be a good pick despite cries for the team to draft Bradley Chubb. Heading into this coming season, the Browns are excited to see how much Ward’s grown as a player.

Questions do circle the opposite side of the field. Cleveland added T.J. Carrie, E.J. Gaines, and Terrance Mitchell last season and allowed all three to fight for a job. Gaines is likely gone in free agency after suffering another injury-plagued season which leaves Mitchell and Carrie.

While Mitchell performed well, he had some injury concerns as well and could be better served as the No. 3 corner. Carrie had some ups and downs overall and didn’t really live up to his contract.

With all that being said, the Browns could look to add a press corner such as Morris Claiborne. The former No. 6 overall pick out of LSU, Claiborne was unable to stay on the field for the Dallas Cowboys.

His health issues appear to be a thing of the past now as he played in 15 games each of the past two seasons with the New York Jets.

Claiborne played well for New York and even recorded 14 pass deflections in 2018. However, he seems to be out in Gang Green and could be an interesting option for the Browns to consider.
