Round 4, Pick 119: Daniel Wise, DT, Kansas

Landing Sheldon Richardson in free agency was a big win for the Browns. Despite the emergence of Larry Ogunjobi, Cleveland didn’t field the best unit in the middle of their defensive line. This was never more evident than their loss in Week 17 to the Baltimore Ravens when they simply couldn’t stop anyone from running the ball down their throats.

Richardson should help in that regard considering he’s always been a great run stuffer throughout his career. He’s also a solid option in the passing game, evidenced by his 4.5 sacks last season in Minnesota. As good as this signing was, the Browns still need depth for the interior of their defensive line. In an effort to add that, they grab Kansas defensive tackle Daniel Wise with this selection.

The 290-pound Wise projects as a three-technique at the next level and has some potential as a pass rusher. He recorded 17 sacks in four seasons for the Jayhawks, while picking up five in each of the past two seasons. His quick burst off the snap was evident and he harassed opponents to the tune of 28 tackles for a loss over his final two seasons playing at Kansas.
