Round 5, Pick 144: Kaden Smith, TE, Stanford

With their first of three picks in the fifth round, Cleveland grabs tight end Kaden Smith out of Stanford. Darren Fells was released but the Browns may have replaced him with Demetrius Harris, formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs. With Harris likely entrenched as the backup to David Njoku, the Browns could have a battle on their hands here for the final spot between the rookie and Seth DeValve.

Smith had a big season in 2018, recording 635 yards off 47 receptions. He did have only two touchdowns but could be a decent option in the passing game still. He may push DeValve out, especially considering how sparingly the current No. 3 tight end was used in 2018.

Round 5, Pick 155: Oli Udoh, OT, Elon

The Browns don’t need to reach for an offensive tackle after signing Greg Robinson but they do need someone to groom. It could be in their best interest to go earlier in the draft for the position, but the way this mock falls, it made more sense to wait — the main players in the class will likely be gone in the first couple of rounds and corner is a bigger need which is why they skipped it earlier.

Now, they do land a player with a lot of potential in Oli Udoh. He was originally projected to be an undrafted project player but gained steam at the Combine — which is where word broke that Cleveland could be interested.
