Round 4, Pick 119: Chuma Edoga, OT, USC

Offensive tackle is a need for the Browns, but not a desperate need. In free agency, they made sure to add some depth behind their starters. They also made sure to retain Greg Robinson to play left tackle after a strong stretch to close out 2018.

They also still really like Desmond Harrison, the undrafted tackle from West Georgia who started the first eight games of the season. With him still developing, they wait to go for a tackle early but they do add depth with Chuma Edoga out of USC.

Edoga has the potential to be a starter in the NFL and can contribute right away as a run blocker. The question as to whether or not he becomes a full-time player lies in how he develops as a pass protector, which is one of the areas he needs to improve says Lance Zierlein of NFL.com.

"“Edoga is a smooth, athletic run-blocker and an uneven, unrefined pass protector, which creates a challenge in projecting him. His ability to get to blocks in a variety of positions from his initial stance is something that cannot be taught. While some of his flaws in pass pro can be coached up, there are physical deficiencies that could plague him throughout his career. To become a successful NFL starter, he needs to check the strength, maturity, and durability boxes as early as possible in his career.” — Zierlein, NFL.com"

Eventually, Edoga could push his way into the starting lineup. In a perfect world, he would do so on the right side while Harrison takes over on the left and gives them two young bookends to protect Baker Mayfield.
