Round 4, Pick 119: T.J. Edwards, LB, Wisconsin

Jamie Collins led the team in tackles last year with 104 but was let go in the offseason. His pay had surpassed his play which led to his release but there’s still a lot of production that needs to be replaced with his departure. Cleveland has done a good job of ensuring they have players on hand to attempt to fill this void, but may not be done.

2018 fifth-round pick Genard Avery is the top candidate to take over Collin’s spot but they protected themselves with some veteran insurance as well. In free agency, they picked up former Tampa Bay Buccaneers captain Adarius Taylor.

Even with those two on the roster, Cleveland would be wise to add more depth at the position. Their lack of depth at linebacker proved to be a problem last year when both Joe Schobert and Christian Kirksey battled injuries. In order to better handle any future durability concerns, the Browns grab one of the more underrated players in this draft, T.J. Edwards.

The Wisconsin product finished his career with 366 tackles and never had less than 81 in a single season. In addition to his ability to find the call carrier, Edwards recorded 10 career interceptions while with the Badgers. Cleveland has had some great success finding linebackers in the mid-rounds and selecting Edwards here would continue to make them look like geniuses when it comes to finding value on these guys.
