Fighting for a spot: Tigie Sankoh

A native of London, Tigie Sankoh spent 2018 on the Brown’s practice squad and according to the team’s website, was a “member of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program.”  Sankoh also played for the London Warriors in the British American Football League.

During the 2018 preseason, Sankoh appeared in three games and had just one tackle. At just 21-years of age, he has plenty of time to carve out an NFL career, but again his best shot with this team seems to be as a member of the practice squad.

Undrafted Rookie: J.T  Hassell

Lastly, we have J.T. Hassell, the undrafted rookie from Florida Tech after transferring from South Dakota State University. In his final collegiate season, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound Hassell won the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Year for Florida Tech when he recorded124 tackles, 4.5 sacks and forced three fumbles.

The talent level he’s about to face will be nothing close to what he saw at either school, but he’s an inspirational player to keep an eye on. Born with only two fingers on his left hand, Hassell has been able to overcome the odds throughout his life as he now sets his sights on making the 53-man roster.

Like Sankoh, he may need to shoot for the practice squad in 2019 due to this finally being a position of strength.
