Most Improved Player: Christian Kirksey

In all honesty, I think he needs to be. Damarious Randall doesn’t have to be, Joe Schobert was good even with being hurt, and half of the defensive line is brand new to the team. The only other starter I could have put here would have been Larry Ogunjobi.

I don’t believe his production will explode though. Kirksey, with being healthy and learning the defense should be right back to the Kirk of old that we are used to seeing. If not, I see three young, very talented linebackers right on his heels waiting for a shot to start.

Honorable Mention No. 1: Morgan Burnett

Last year, Morgan Burnett was playing out of position for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Much like Jabrill Peppers for Cleveland in 2017, this in-the-box safety was forced into a role as a center fielder. The results were less than desirable and Burnett was cut just one season into his three-year deal with Pittsburgh.

Now back at strong safety with Damarious Randall manning the deep safety role, Burnett could have a bounce-back season. Should he do that, his name could be in the mix for the most improved players on the Browns this year. We already saw how much it can help a player return to his normal position, which is what happened with Randall last season.
