Quarterbacks (3)

Baker Mayfield, Drew Stanton, Garrett Gilbert

The quarterback position is most likely the most sure position group to predict across the entire roster. Because the Browns landed their franchise quarterback with Baker Mayfield, there are not many concerns about filling the position.

Even behind Mayfield, there is still not much doubt about the depth chart. Despite not appearing in any games last season, Drew Stanton appears to be entrenched as the backup behind Mayfield. Stanton is familiar with head coach and offensive play-caller Freddie Kitchens, so he should be comfortable with the offense. He also is a veteran who can help Mayfield continue to develop.

Kitchens made it known this offseason that he was comfortable with Stanton as the backup. Although he may not have great career numbers, he has been a solid game manager when forced into action.

Behind Stanton is Garrett Gilbert, who could potentially provide some competition for Stanton as the backup. Gilbert has played only one game in the NFL since joining the league in 2014. But after emerging as the best quarterback in the AAF, Gilbert would be a solid third-string option.

Cleveland may not have a young developmental quarterback behind Mayfield, but they can surround him with some veterans. As he continues to grow as a NFL player, having veterans behind Mayfield will only help him.
