1. Trevon Coley, Defensive Tackle

Undrafted out of Florida Atlantic in 2016, Trevon Coley began his career with the Baltimore Ravens but was waived before the season began. He later ended up on the Washington Redskins practice squad but never made the active roster.

After a couple of weeks, the Redskins let him go and the Browns added him to their own practice squad. He made the most out of that chance as he made it to the 53-man roster the following season and started all 15 games he played.

Coley continued to serve as a starter in 2018, but his overall snaps started to decline. The line as a whole struggled and he finished with a grade of 50.4 according to Pro Football Focus (subscription required) which landed him as the No. 111 defensive tackle in the NFL.

Heading into 2019, the only way Coley remains a starter is if something were to happen to Larry Ogunjobi or Sheldon Richardson. Ogunjobi showed off some pass rushing prowess last year and Richardson is a high-priced free agent who is expected to make the interior of their line much better.

That puts Coley in a tough spot as he’s now fighting with Carl Davis, Brian Price, Daniel Ekuale, and Devaroe Lawrence for a role with the team. There’s also a chance they could use defensive end Anthiny Zettel inside more often, especially on passing downs.

Coley could end up proving to be the best player out of that bunch, but things won’t be easy for him by any means.
