1. Baker is the man

What a difference a year makes. Baker Mayfield entered the 2018 season as a rookie fighting to be the No. 2 quarterback. Then, he took the starting job from Tyrod Taylor in Week 3 and ended up setting the NFL record for the most touchdown passes by a rookie.

Now, he enters his second training camp as the unquestioned leader of the franchise. With that being the case, he’s starting to show off even more of his engaging personality and leadership traits. Mayfield has been vocal on the field, even getting after receivers when they don’t run the correct routs.

Off the field, he continues to stress the importance of hard work but also has given us many one-liners to remember. He did that again on Wednesday as he once again starting poking fun at Browns reporter Tony Grossi.

First, he picked on Grossi again about being “retired.” This was in reference to Grossi saying he would be “done” if the Browns did take Mayfield first overall last season. Baker likes to occasionally remind Grossi of this and did so again during a barb about Mayfield’s mustache.

Pete Smith of Browns Maven broke down the exchange on Twitter:

"“Grossi asked about his mustache. Mayfield asked where Grossi’s was. He said it was retired. Mayfield said I thought you were retired.” — Mayfield via Pete Smith"

It didn’t end there as Mayfield and Grossi went back and forth later. This time, the reporter asked if Mayfield was going to star in any “films,” which led to another great quote from Mayfield.

While there will surely continue to be those who think Mayfield is immature, Browns fans find this refreshing. For too long, training camp has been all about trying to end the past season’s misery. That’s not the case anymore.

Sure, they haven’t had a winning season yet, but the team is finally having fun. They have pieces in place that they believe in and a franchise quarterback who is loving every second of it.

It’s a great time to be a Browns fan, and Mayfield is one of the biggest reasons for that.
