Austin Corbett

Yet another Browns draft pick, but a year removed from his selection out of Nevada, offensive lineman Austin Corbett has been an enigma since training camp started this season. The job as the Browns’ starting right guard was Corbett’s to lose, and so far, it looks as though he has not overly impressed the coaching staff.

Rather, the Browns have put in a three-man rotation at the right guard spot. Corbett, along with teammates Kyle Kalis and Eric Kush, have been battling for the job throughout camp, and time is beginning to run out. Cohesion on the offensive line is of utmost importance, and the Browns have failed to keep any consistency at the right guard spot so far.

With a franchise quarterback finally in place, it is the Browns’ job to make sure Mayfield stays upright throughout the course of the season. Corbett will have a chance to prove his worth during the first preseason game, taking the reigns at right guard from Kevin Zeitler. This game will go a long way towards forming the offensive line that fans will see Week One against the Tennessee Titans.

Corbett’s second year will either be a fantastic turnaround or a major blemish on Dorsey’s record as general manager. Playing against Washington on Thursday will be a good window into just which way that scale is leaning early on in the season.
